I am moved by music. The beat of it. The sound of it, line by line, note by note, and all compiled together. I am not a trained musician. I played the saxophone in school, took piano lessons in college, and used to be able to read music. I sang in choir and musicals in high school & college, but I'll never be a soloist. However, like most music lovers, that doesn't stop me from singing!
I am lucky enough to be employed somewhere with a boss that is also a music lover, and I play music from my iPod all day long. Any kind of music, whatever the mood strikes. Bob Marley? Sure, I've got that. The Decemberists? Oh yes, a favorite! The Rolling Stones, The Go-Go's, Dead Kennedys, Journey, Lucinda Williams, Vampire Weekend, Dierks Bentley? You bet. I'm not an elitist. I do not corner myself into limited genres, and I am always listening for something new. If I've not heard it, I'd love to.
